Before we raise our voice for any
just cause, or on behalf of
another,
first we need to listen: whether by
prayer (which is listening to
God),
or study (which is listening to
others
wiser, more knowledgeable than
us),
and preferably straight from them
whose stories we dare to
represent.
For only by the discipline of
listening
that we validate our
truth-telling.
